The young, the aged, the diseased, and the weak – all may take to the practice of yoga
and derive its benefits without hindrance.
Hathayoga Pradipika by Swami Swatmamara

I started to attend yoga classes in 2008, young, but having developed a number of health problems owing to the combination of office jobs and extreme sports. Oddly, I did not derive the benefits of yoga even though my flexibility improved. And my condition only got worse.
In late 2011, I got introduced to Iyengar yoga by Sharat Arora, the founder of Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Center and a long time student of B.K.S. Iyengar. Everything changed then. For two years, I practiced according to his teachings, regularly visiting his studios. I saw and felt how the healing potential of Yoga can be realized through the practice of asana and pranayama by people of all ages and in all kinds of physical conditions.
In 2013-2014, I studied in India with a number of Iyengar teachers from Europe.
In 2014, I spent half a year in Canada, attending classes and workshops at Iyengar Yoga Center of Victoria with its founder Shirley Daventry French and her students.
Since 2015, I am based outside of Moscow, studying under the guidance of Konstantin Kovalev, Igor Podmazin, and Elena Ulmasbaeva.Iregularly attend workshops with the senior Iyengar teachers (Lois Steinberg, Manuso Manos, Devki Desai, Raya Uma Datta, Abhijata Iyengar). In the winter of 2015, I attended a workshop with Gita Iyengar in Pune.
Under Sharat Arora’s guidance I developed a strong self-practice. Since my first class at his studio, asana practice is my daily life focus. Living and breathing yoga, it is only natural to want to pass on the teachings.
I began training for the Iyengar yoga teacher certificate in 2015. In India, I have been invited to teach international groups at an Iyengar yoga studio.
Iyengar yoga has a great healing and life changing power. My goal as a yoga teacher is to help students access this power through the presence and absorption in right action.
